April 30, 2003: Teleroute, Europe’s leading on-line freight and vehicle exchange service and Ziegler, the international provider of logistic services and multi-modal transport, have entered into a Partnership aimed at improving transport logistics by streamlining Ziegler’s European internal road haulage operations.

The Partnership sets up a Closed User Group (CUG), which optimises the work flow of a predefined group within the Ziegler network, offers Posting Interface Automation (PIA), which means posting information only has to be created once regardless of where it is being used, and includes a European pricing structure. This move creates a synergy within Ziegler’s different branches and keeps information efficient and accurate, thereby saving time and money.

Teleroute was founded in 1985 when it started operating an on-line forum for transport industry customers to post and search for freight offers. Today it is actively present in 17 countries and its unique database is available to shippers and forwarders all over Europe. Access can be obtained through a variety of platforms including internet and PC servers. Teleroute’s products and solutions are aimed at saving forwarders time and money while keeping their freight moving and their trucks filled.

“Ziegler is an important client for us,” explains Raimundo Diaz, Teleroute CEO. “With its extensive European operations, Ziegler is in a position to utilize a variety of our freight and vehicle exchange services. We can help match their freight orders with vehicles all around Europe, thereby creating efficient and profitable solutions. Our collaboration with Ziegler confirms our capacity to provide a wide array of services to trans-national clients.”

ZIEGLER was founded in Brussels in 1908. With nearly 5.000 employees and 260 locations, ZIEGLER is amongst the European leaders in the field of transport organization and logistics. Through internal and external growth, ZIEGLER has progressively built up its’ own network throughout Europe. Starting from strong bases in the Benelux, ZIEGLER has developed in France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Ireland and also in Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden, Norway), U.S.A. and Morocco. ZIEGLER offers transport by air, sea and road but its main activity remains road freight which is the focus of Teleroute’s products and services.

The Teleroute solutions help Ziegler optimise the freight research. By using CUG, Ziegler can communicate its freight needs exclusively within its European network. If the company is unable to internally match its freight to vehicles, then the freight offers automatically go to Teleroute’s open exchange thereby becoming available to Teleroute’s 35,000 users. The PIA keeps freight information accurate because forwarders create only one order regardless of whether the offer is shared internally or in the open exchange.

“Teleroute is a good partner for us,” explains Arthur Ed. Ziegler, Chairman of the Ziegler Group. ”The Teleroute applications will optimise the freight research and the loads carried by our fleet. The freight exchange is also a key factor for our growing road chartering activities. The optimisation of vehicle use and the decrease of empty journeys should increase our efficiency even more. As a result, Teleroute helps us to improve the services we dedicate to our clients.”

The agreement is being monitored through monthly steering committee meetings.
