Teleroute Direct is a new web-based freight consultation service for Europe’s transport industry
May 5, 2002: Teleroute has added Teleroute Direct to its product portfolio, complementing its suite of on-line freight and vehicle exchange services for the road transport industry in Europe.
Teleroute Direct is a brand new service dedicated to the consultation of immediately available freight opportunities. Specially designed for transport companies that occasionally have unused space in their trucks, Teleroute Direct puts fleet owners with excess capacity in direct contact with forwarders who have freight to transport.
This new product offers two key benefits: simplicity and flexibility. Teleroute Direct is completely web-based with a site design that is very intuitive. A helpful on-line wizard makes it very easy to use. Registration and payment are done on-line. The payment model is similar to the system of pre-paid telephone cards. Customers purchase a number of credits on-line which they can use according to their needs and which allows them to carefully monitor and plan costs. The pricing of the service takes into account the freedom and flexibility of the product, and so, for the occasional user, offers a low cost way to find freight.
Running an under-utilised truck is extremely expensive; with Teleroute Direct truck owners have the potential to fill their vehicles to maximum capacity. With full access to Teleroute’s 56,000 offers posted daily by some 35,000 users in Europe, Teleroute Direct offers customers the opportunity to generate new business and maximise the efficiency of their truck capacity.
“Teleroute Direct is a perfect solution for transporters who, from time to time, find themselves with extra capacity”, explains Annick Monseux, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. “It is a cost-effective way for carriers to make full use of their vehicles’ capacity and thus increase their profitability through optimised efficiency. Being a web based solution means that customers do not need to make any additional investment – they can gain access to the service directly from any internet-connected computer. Customers register, pay for and consult freight entirely via the Internet.”
“We are very pleased to be able to address the needs of a new customer segment with this expansion of our portfolio of services,” added Raimundo Diaz, CEO. “We are responding to requests from would-be customers who periodically want access to Teleroute’s freight offers. New or occasional customers can utilize this pay-as-you-go solution while learning more about us. As we expand further into Europe we consider Teleroute Direct a win-win solution.”
